I've been a student of typography, composition, UX and UI for a while. But what excites me today is giving dimension and usefulness to a product experience that may not have existed before.
At AFAR, I took a fledgling concept of user-generated travel recommendations and helped develop it into a collection of travel guides. Today this concept has evolved into a revenue driver for the company. Taking this a step further at Bravo Your City, I explored long-form UGC with the goal of giving users the ability to publish to Newsstand and Kindle. At Trulia, I helped evolve the core search experience for real estate by framing homes in a different way: by home characteristics, neighborhood information, safety levels, etc, and to bring richness to the content and user experience.
Outside of hands on design work, I manage a team of designers at Trulia. In my role I bring together designers, product managers, and engineers with design thinking workshops; whiteboarding with product managers and coming up with the next way to solve a home buyer's problem; huddling with designers to give and receive feedback. Also, my experience at startups and wearing different hats has taught me to hustle when I have to.
When I'm not in front of the computer, I spend time learning samba/tango/salsa/capoeira, drinking clear drinks, and playing with my sons and dogs in the Bay Area.
